The Green Scene
Monday, January 30th
Meet with your fellow Environmental Studies students to brainstorm a new student group geared specifically for you. The students who are calling this meeting want to emphasize that this is a hybrid group that encourages thinking outside the box and is meant to enhance the out-of-classroom learning experience.
Bring your ideas, recommendations, interests, etc. and ENVS will provide the food. Some ideas that have been tossed around so far include field trips to get hands-on experience (for example to Freedom Field), visiting businesses to learn about sustainability initiatives, habitat restoration on campus (prairie installation and maintenance), and general networking events (get to know your classmates better).

Green Tips for Finals Week
1. Use a reusable container for your water and coffee. Water keeps your hydrated and using a recyclable reusable container reduces on bottle and storage waste. Same goes for earlier risers and coffee drinkers.
2. Walk to your finals, while a college campus can be wide and vast and December weather is usually chilly. Walking to your finals destinations helps to jump start your thinking and reduces on carbon emissions.
3. Pack your lunch, making your meal at home and bringing it with you to eat between finals is both cost effective and reduces added fast food waste.
4. Relax, your mind is more at ease when you are calm and less stressed.
